I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas - even if that meant spending time with loved ones virtually. It's been one hectic year and we all seek comfort in gathering with each other over the holidays but this year was just one where we had to opt out. I'm hoping that this time next year, we'll be able to gather without masks! 😷 Even though it was just my mother and I this Christmas, we still decorated the house! Check out the pictures below - they were all DIY! I'm sure I was flying high on spray paint fumes 😅 Stay safe and I wish you a Happy New Year! See you in 2021! 🎉
I wore a good deal of skorts as a kid and it just made sense. The ability to pull off that feminine look while preventing any indecent exposure as you're running around. Two birds with one stone, right? Well, as an adult woman in the corporate science world, skorts, unfortunately, do not comply with dress codes. I never thought I would be able to wear a similar rendition to the work place until I saw these pants. It's basically a longer version of a skort! A midi skirt + long pants = the PROFESSIONAL SKORT! I'm not sure what this is called but skirt pants just doesn't seem correct... Maybe it is that simple? 🤷
I wore this exact outfit to my first APPE pharmaceutical industry elective rotation at Allergan back in June 2019; I cannot believe it has already been over a year! Anyways, when I do go back into the office, I will begin posting more professional workwear content. The pandemic cannot end fast enough! I'm so glad there are two vaccines under EUA! Here's to hoping we can achieve a new kind of normal in the very near future!
Pharmacy Fellowship Reception at ASHP Midyear
ASHP Midyear Fellowship Interviews Monday, December 14, 2020Everything laid out here is based on my personal experience with navigating receptions at ASHP Midyear 2019 - Las Vegas. With the pandemic continuing its fury, ASHP Midyear 2020 has gone virtual. I was unsure whether or not there would be receptions this year but my friends who are going through the process said that these Zoom sessions are a blast! This post will probably be more applicable for those who are applying in person but it may shed some light on what to expect with receptions. I'm sure people have done things differently but I'm here to give you my two cents. I will also lay out things I wish I knew prior to receptions.
When you simply have nothing to wear, a black lace dress may be the perfect choice. Lace is subject to interpretation and I love how it can exude a delicate innocence or a sexy femme fatale persona. I own quite a few articles of clothing with lace fit for all sorts of occasions. I seldom wear body-conscious clothing and I often gravitate towards anything that can gain momentum with a slight breeze - this particular dress fits the criteria. I am fortunate to be living in a place that's warm 90% of the year so I took the opportunity to wear this dress out for a casual day of shopping. I dressed it down by pairing this dress with my red accessories: suede booties, shoulder bag and sunnies.
I am always looking for new content for my blog so if you have any ideas, pharmacy or fashion related, please do not hesitate to message me.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I gained a couple of pounds since I stuffed my face with pie and cake all weekend long... it's 2020 and I'm getting my Winter body ready 😝! Anyways, even though I live close to the beach, I've been avoiding it like the plague. The lack of social distancing and the rising number of COVID-19 cases deterred me from embracing the sand in my toes and warm water. But I thought to myself... Black Friday = Crazy Deals = Everyone at the Mall. I tried my luck at the beach. I was stunned to see the sheer amount of people congregating on the sand, grass and water Maybe I'll be able to enjoy an empty beach when the temperature truly starts taking a dip 🙏
Onwards to this outfit, this is something I would typically wear to school. I love a great sleeveless duster coat and I've collected so many over the years! I paired my duster with a simple sheer dress topped with a crochet crop top. I added some contrasting textures with my faux fur strap and suede olive booties! Have a wonderful week! Until next time!
The pandemic has really changed my spending habits! I typically prefer physically shopping in stores so I can try, touch and see things on myself. Do you ever feel like some things look better on the hanger? 😩Anyways, I cannot recall the last time I was able to peruse clothes in any brick and motor store... it's not like I have anywhere to go this year but I do miss shopping in-person. I'm giving online shopping a go so here are some Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals I found; scroll to the bottom! And yes, it's still this warm in California 😅I'm enjoying all the sunlight while it lasts!
Bonjour mes amis! Comment ça va? It's been quite some time since I've written anything in French but I'm currently trying to improve my accent! What else would you do in a pandemic, right? I can still read and write proficiently but my accent... ce n'est pas très bon. I'm sure most of us have binged watched Emily in Paris by now so I wanted to create a lookbook inspired by the female leads of the show! I completely forgot to take DSLR pictures of my looks but here's a side-by-side comparison of my twist on the looks via snapshots of my reel. I hope you guys enjoy!
I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween! I opted to staying indoors this year because nothing's spookier than the raging pandemic 👻I did not create a costume for Halloween 2020 but I realized that I never documented my prescription bottle costume from 2019! I was in the midst of my APPE community rotation at Walgreens so I thought it would be fitting that I, a then pharmacy student, would dress up as a pill bottle! Here's all the materials that were used to make this costume:
I know it's the end of October but it's still quite warm in Southern California! I had a big trip planned for August - September where I would venture off to the Greek Islands as a gift to myself for obtaining my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UCSD - Class of 2020, represent! However, with the pandemic roaring on and a travel ban for U.S. citizens in most countries, I was stuck at home. Sure, I could have travelled domestically but a major component, I'd say the driving, or rather, braking force, that prevented me from traveling during these past few months was the lack of safety I felt as COVID-19 cases continue to increase around the world. Since I do not think I'll be able to travel with peace of mind for quite some time, I will live vicariously through images of those iconic blue domes and white buildings on Instagram. Until next time!
Spooky season is here as well as my favorite time of year - the HOLIDAYS! Whenever temperatures start taking a dip, I know that it is finally time to pile on the clothes, stuff my face with food and start decorating the house. Even with all these impending celebrations, 2020 has been a real testament to my perception on life.
I started the year on my ambulatory care rotation when COVID was still a foreign entity that, quite frankly, no one seemed to care about. Flash forward to March when I was on my hospital rotation and the sheer number of patients being admitted to the emergency department with a chief complain of "shortness of breath" shot up 100%. Masks became scarce. Gloves ran out faster than ever before. Hand sanitizer became a hot commodity... it's a surreal thing to live through in my 20's. Despite the tragedy we all came to witness from the pandemic to wildfires to injustice, I'm trying to stay optimistic in this dystopian world. I am grateful for so many things in my life and I'm going to enjoy the last leg of 2020 as much as I can. Hoping you and all your loved ones are safe, healthy, and well!
Anyways, even though change is good, I hope to embody the old me in future looks as the one featured here. Remember Gossip Girl? Everyone I knew was mesmerized by Serena van der Woodsen's attire. I was attracted to some of her outfits but Blair Waldorfs' outfits were a hit in practically every show. Each outfit was like a piece of art that exuded a sense of ladylike sophistication and power. I know this particular outfit isn't what she would wear but I am drawing inspiration from her and giving it my own modern flare. Maybe I'll do some "Inspired by ___" posts! But remember, always add personality to your outfit and own it! Until next time!
Can you believe summer is over? The sun has been setting much earlier and mornings are gloomy - just the way I like it! Gloomy days conjure up wishful desires of rainy days in Paris, London or New York. For the past few days, many of the interior accounts I am following on Instagram posted bedroom pictures with large windows overlooking a very gloomy Manhattan. Now doesn't that just sound nice? Spending a cozy day indoors with your favorite book and a cup of coffee while looking over the concrete jungle... someday, maybe! But enough daydreaming! I finally wore these distressed skinny white jeans to go grocery shopping. White pants tend to look unflattering on me so I usually avoid them however, I had to have these! They're versatile and they can easily transition from summer into fall. Also, jeans never fit me perfectly in length so I always cuff them. Most of the time I roll them in but I decided to expose my cuff for these jeans. One thing to note, for petite girls like me, over-cuffing can make you appear shorter than we actually are! So cuff wisely! To give the impression of longer legs, I paired this outfit with Realove heels from Steve Madden. Anyways, I cannot wait until Fall comes in full swing! I have lots of past season runway outfits I cannot wait to re-create! Until next time!
Oh, how the times have changed. Having an in-person interview in 2020 seems like a figment of my imagination. As someone who transitioned from having in-person fellowship interviews in December 2019 to virtual on-sites and job interviews early 2020, I wanted to share some tips on how to be prepared and stand out amongst your competition.
I received this cubic zirconia ring from Berricle a few days ago and I was astonished. Unlike other cubic zirconia rings that possess an opaque tint, this ring is able to refract light and produce that blinding rainbow pattern (similar to an authentic diamond ring) from every angle. I must admit that when I first viewed their website, I was afraid that the rings might not appear genuine. However, the ring Berricle generously gifted me, as seen below, disproves my primary assumption. Not only does it look like a "real" diamond ring but the price for this gem is absurdly low. Any recessionista or luxury fashion enthusiast can purchase this ring without putting an enormous dent in their bank account. Visit Berricle's website HERE to view their products.
As for my outfit, I decided to pair this ring with a simple black dress. I love the leather trim and bows along with the drop waist (channeling a modern 1920's Gatsby vibe!). I chose to pair this dress with these COACH heels to maintain a classic yet sophisticated look. However, I could not resist adding a pop of color with my teal cat-eyed sunglasses. Have a nice weekend!
Had this been any other year, this purple ensemble would have made it's way into my work wardrobe. However, 2020 is sure going to be one for the books. Even though the entire country has been in a back and forth tug of war of opening and closing, I honestly feel that I've been presented with many great opportunities for professional growth. For those of you who are following me on Instagram, you already know that I was hired on as a Clinical Scientist through an entirely virtual process. It feels strange that I have yet to meet my team in person. Online interviews, whether it's through WebEx, Skype, Zoom or Google Hangouts, has been a peculiar process. I'll expand in another post however, this new work from home lifestyle has given me more time to think about the direction of my blog. Since I'm spending so much more time at home, I will be incorporating more life and interior design snippets in my posts.
Anyways, I paired this lovely Leifsdottir Swan Pleated Mini Skirt with a purple Sleeveless Ruffled Top that has made an appearance on my blog in the past! It's all about working old pieces to make them look like new, right? I thought these two pieces paired nicely with each other and to add a pop of color, I wore my Red and Hot Pink Suede Ivanka Trump sandals. Until next time!
Hello again! I thought it would help to include all the questions I was asked during my PPS interviews at ASHP Midyear. Make sure to draft your answers beforehand and rehearse in front of a mirror - I went over my interview etiquette in a previous post and all the same rules apply - check it out here. I rehearsed my answers to the questions below so many times that I could say it forward and backward in my sleep. This isn't an all inclusive list and it varies from program and company but I do hope this helps you with your preparation! I know this is easier said than done but you'll soon notice that there's really no time to be nervous during your PPS interviews. I had 21 interviews and so many back-to-back's that I became numb to the process. Once you're in the hot seat, that adrenaline rush kicks in and your confidence takes over. I got so accustomed to it that I could predict what they were going to ask! You'll see what I mean once you're there! Best of luck! 😁 UPDATE: PSA - MIDYEAR 2020 IS NOW ENTIRELY VIRTUAL.
Cue Nutcracker music! I remember playing this piece and numerous other soundtracks in orchestra... oh, memories. I enjoyed performing each score then (re)watching the movie to pick up all the details *music nerd*! Nevertheless, I came up with this title, SugarPLUM Fairy, because of this adorable cape top! I'm a bit indifferent to purple... I don't own many items in this color scheme but I'm crushing on plum/aubergine. This top has been in my possession for a while yet it's been quite difficult to find a matching bottom. I finally settled with my brown leather pants and I believe it worked out just fine, wouldn't you agree? I finished this outfit off with heels and a necklace following the purple scheme. These pictures were taken way before COVID... definitely need some more inspo for new content! Until next time!
With most summer events cancelled this year, I thought I'd repost this oldie but goodie outfit. As you might be able to see, this dress came with detachable straps. I bent down to sit on the ledge and one of the straps popped! The dress ended up looking better strapless so it all worked out for the best! I do hope you and all your loved ones are staying safe and healthy during this unprecedented time. Remember to keep updated with all my pharmacy related posts by checking out the Pharmacy Tab above! Until next time!
Do you ever feel like there's just nothing to wear? I often find myself blankly gazing at my closet... not really ideal since I end up running out the door like a maniac. Whilst staring into the depths of my closet, I noticed that I've accumulated a lot of black clothing. This is pretty odd for me since I typically migrate towards vibrant shades full of prints and intricate designs... With all these black pieces staring at me, I whipped up some of my favorites to create this look!
I'm wearing a sweater I bought from ZARA quite some time ago and I never paid attention to the printed pictures until now... It features flowers, a statue, an actual zipper and the only bit of color is from a blazing flame. I layered this over my western floral, embroidered button down from FOREVER 21. To finish off the look, I tossed on my favorite leather shorts and my suede IVANKA TRUMP Sarena OTK Boots. This outfit is perfect for school or a day at the library! Until next time!
Fashion is a form of art that allows anyone to express themselves without having to say a word. I love experimenting with patterns, fabrics, colors, and mixing high/low pieces together. When I'm in the mood to dress up, my bedroom turns into a hot mess. I know the location of approximately 98% of my clothes but sometimes the outfits I create in my head don't fair well on my body. More often than not, I tend to find forgotten garments in the midst of my rampage. The sheer black ZARA mock neck featured in this post was one of those lost treasures I recovered! It's an old piece I got during my undergraduate years. My love for lace anything began very young and I've only grown more fond of it. Instead of pairing this with something basic and solid, I chose this FREE PEOPLE cream crochet skirt (I bought two so I'm selling the other one on my Poshmark account @adriennenguyenn). I believe the sheer, delicate lace and patterned crochet go well with each other. To minimize any distractions from my outfit, I kept my accessories within the same color scheme - tan, gold and black. Besides, I got to wear this flower necklace I've owned since middle school!
Never in my wildest dreams did I believe the world would be impacted by an invisible yet common enemy that disregards age, gender, race and political affiliations. The economic turmoil, the pain and suffering so many have faced in just a couple of months is inconceivable. This virus stripped the Class of 2020's ability to celebrate our biggest achievement to date - obtaining the Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Whereas previous years were able to say their final goodbyes with this rite of passage, it was, to say the least, very anti-climatic this past weekend. My school has pushed our in-person celebration to later this year but I'm uncertain whether or not this is feasible. I still have yet to take any graduation pictures but I created a graduation mood board!
I will dedicate another post where I speak about my experience on the frontline both in the hospital and community setting so be on the lookout. To all my readers, I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy during these unprecedented times. Please follow guidelines and we'll get through this together. These pictures were taken ages ago when I still lived in Orange County... until next time!
It's always nice to have a sweater on hand for those cool summer nights. I don't know if my fellow Californians can attest to this but I believe the weather is a bit unusual. There is an extreme dichotomy between the scorching heat of the day and the chilly breezes of the evening. Who am I to complain though... I'm thankful I can feel nice and toasty all year round. On a peculiarly cool day, I opted for my over-sized boxy hot pink sweater. My look wouldn't be complete without some clashing of prints so I paired this top with my favorite polka dot shorts with my TED BAKER floral clutch. I hope you're all staying safe and healthy! Remember to practice social distancing! Until next time!
Though it's been raining on and off in Southern California, it is still warm enough to wear skirts without pantyhose! I took advantage of the weather by wearing one of my most coveted items in my closet - my Dolce & Gabbana Tweed Floral Pencil Skirt. I fell in love with this piece the moment I laid my eyes on it. Better yet? If it were summer, I would pair this skirt with a dainty yet sophisticated silk strappy top. However, this chilly Southern California Spring calls for a sweater so I wore my green, beaded ladybug Tory Burch sweater.
I wore this outfit to the mall with my mother and that calls for comfortable shoes (we typically spend hours in stores). Therefore, I broke into my new gold heeled flat D'Orsays from Sam Edelman. It's the cutest pair of low block heels I own! I finished off my look with a tote from Reed Krakoff. This outfit also works well for the office and business meetings. I couldn't find these exact items so I linked similar pieces below. Oh, this outfit was taken a VERY long time ago in Newport Beach, California pre-COVID-19. Stay safe and stay home - until next time 💖

Midyear feels like it happened such a long time ago! I have a tremendous amount of unpublished content and I cannot wait to share all my pictures and tips on the blog! Get ready for numerous posts on interview prep, what to bring, outfits, receptions and anything else associated with the madness of PPS at ASHP Midyear! These posts will be sprinkled throughout the year leading up to Midyear 2020... hopefully it's not a virtual Midyear!
LOCATION: Las Vegas, Nevada
Great place to be if you're there for pleasure - all the folks applying for residency were able to take it easy. For those applying to fellowships, I found myself writing thank you cards each night, reinforcing the knowledge I had about programs and running to receptions. Oh, taking an Uber took much longer than walking to different hotels for receptions (more details in a later post) since there was a Cowboy Rodeo, Marijuana Convention and Hockey Game...
VENUE: Mandalay Bay Convention Center
The convention center is massive but I spent the vast majority of my time in PPS with a slight detour to the Posters Ballroom for my Poster Presentation! This is in no means to downgrade the PPS layout because I averaged 15,000 steps each day. I found myself running from one end to another (in heels 😓) to make it to my interviews on time; I had to schedule some back-to-back interviews due to scheduling conflicts. More details to follow...
Your girl is back! This is an ensemble I'd wear to school when the temperature takes a dip. It's a simple, comfortable outfit with a splash of color and prints! You may notice that I'm in Balboa Park, San Diego for these pictures. These were taken quite some time ago as I would not venture to such a crowded area today...
It's been one crazy start of the year and we're just three months in. From the wildfires in Australia to the panic of coronavirus - here's to hoping COVID-19 is contained as soon as possible. Not only is this pandemic preventing us from enjoying the simple things in life, a drive down the road shows how much stores and restaurants are affected.
I'm still an intern pharmacist at CVS and it's been wild. The parking lot is actually full! I had to circle the store for parking... something that NEVER, EVER happens. Everyone is attempting to get three months worth of their prescriptions and stockpiling on gloves, hand sanitizer, Lysol anything, wet wipes, toilet paper, etc. In this time of uncertainty, please be nice to pharmacy staff. We're understaffed and severely overworked. More importantly, please don't threaten us... we do not control how fast things are sold and we most definitely cannot control how fast the lines move when you to pick up your medication. Things come up! Prescriptions go missing, insurance information wasn't registered, the system crashes, prior authorizations are required... try to understand 😇🙏. Be safe and be kind to one another.

For those of you following me on instagram, @adriennenguyenn, you may have already seen my black and white post in Wolford's Velvet de Luxe 50 Stay Up Tights. This is my second look paired with these luxury tights and they are worth it. Not only do they stay up on your legs, it's as if you're getting a soft hug! This isn't your typical hosiery and it may be a tad bit cliché but you certainly get what you're paying for. These tights are double-wrapped with elastane in three separate rows running around the circumference of each stocking to provide that "perfect fit" we all dream of. These are the best tights I own and I am not saying that because this is a sponsored post but because it truly is of the utmost highest quality. Don't forget to visit Wolford online or visit their storefronts. Until next time!
A simple little accessory... along with keeping you warm and toasty, this stole is a versatile piece that can be layered on top of coats, sweaters and anything else that may come to mind. I treated this as if it were a scarf so instead of leaving this stole hanging around my neck, I decided to belt it up! I've been very fond of the "belting up scarf" look ever since high school and that feeling was only heightened when Burberry showcased this look during their Fall / Winter 2014 Fashion Show. Instead of leaving the belt buckle exposed in front, I rotated it 180 degrees to the back - just a matter of preference.
To continue the color scheme, I wore a slouchy cashmere sweater from J. Crew. It's the comfiest thing ever but boy does it wrinkle; good thing the stole covers up all those pesky wrinkles! I paired this outfit with my Zara skinny leather trim black pants and OTK suede boots by Ivanka Trump! These are no longer available but I've linked similar ones below. What do I love about OTK boots? They work well with pretty much everything! Besides, they're appropriate for work, school, and casual outings! Until next time!
A sudden rush of cold air left a lingering chill as winter break reaches its untimely end. Though I prefer warmer temperatures, piling on layers always makes for better outfits. Anyways, one of my favorite pastimes was creating looks that appear much more exuberant and lavish than on the hanger. The Très Chic on my sweater was a bit plain so to create more depth and texture, black beads were added. I've always wanted to create a YouTube channel to document my outfits in motion... maybe after I graduate! But I digress... this is one of the outfits I'd wear to school. I was a bit more daring as an undergrad since I did wear these heels on campus. Yes, I walked around Ring Road and through Aldrich Park.... I've really put my feet through it all however, I've since morphed into more sensible shoes. Until next time!
