Hey everyone! I received these round, orange sunglasses from Polette last year and I finally had the chance to wear them! I found that it went well with many of my summer and spring attire however, it was next to impossible to try to pull those outfits off during this time of year. So I decided to incorporate these bad boys with this particular outfit. I think the pop of color adds a nice contrast, do you? Anyways, Polette sunglasses
was created by Pierre Wizman. With only 2000 euros, he soon became a
leader of the online optical market and garnered over 2 million euros
within a year. Must be wondering how that happened, huh? Not
only do they carry prescription lenses and sunglasses in a variety of
shapes and colors, the prices are unbeatable. Polette is able to offer
extremely low prices since they omitted the middle man. Once an order is
placed, Polette contacts the factory to make and ship the item directly
to the customer. Though the eyewear is inexpensive, this does not mean
it is of poor quality. Make sure to check them out via facebook, instagram and twitter!
It has been been pretty cool in Southern California... don't let this outfit post fool you! I got this fringed zipper jacket from Nordstrom a few months ago and I've been dying to wear it! So the occasion and weather presented itself a few days ago when I went out to lunch with Jonathan. This is rapidly becoming one of my favorite pieces! It works with dresses, shorts, jeans.... practically anything (E X T R E M E L Y V E R S A T I L E)! Plus, it has a bohemian, California vibe - can't say no to that! You may have noticed that I am wearing boots with only a slight heel! A majority of my posts (around 99.99%) feature me in some sort of high heel. But with all the running around I've been doing, I decided to trade in my heels for some comfortable DV by Dolce Vita boots.
What's an essential outerwear item for both gals and guys? A MOTORCYCLE JACKET , of course! As I was leaving Nordstrom Rack, I noticed very peculiar shoe-lace strings upon the sleeves of what I thought was a seemingly ordinary jacket. As I tugged and pulled, I finally managed to free this alluring piece to discover a zipper motorcycle jacket! I didn't mind the fact that it was a bit big on me zipped up since it would be the most interesting jacket I have yet to own! Besides, I needed to add a little caramel color to my closet!
So then came the question, what should I wear with my newly acquired jacket? Skinny jeans or flare jeans? I've always loved FLARE JEANS however, my obsession with them really took off this year! I particularly love flare pants since I can hide my platforms underneath... deceiving others with how tall I actually am! Not only do flares elongate my frame, they also give me a lot of breathing room as opposed to skinny jeans. Did you guys read about the case of the girl who was sent to the hospital because her jeans were so tight it resulted in nerve/muscle damage in her legs? I know, I know, that happens once in a blue moon but I just thought I'd bring it up! Anyways, I finished off my look with a fairly big brown and silver belt along with a silver roman numerals ring necklace! I hope you guys like this casual look! Until next time!
Nothing like a good silk tie ascot scarf! Small scarves are the perfect accessory to any outfit - around your neck like a scarf, around your wrist like a bangle, on your head like a headscarf or on your bag. Although I love wearing a good small scarf around my neck, I often find myself looking like a stewardess. But this time, I was determined to make it work. I believe this dainty black and white polka dot scarf worked elegantly with my navy blue and white striped tee.
I found my white cigarette pants in the back of my closet and thought they were a perfect match for my stripes and polka dot combination. I felt like a French girl when I wore this outfit! Between the ease and comfort of this look along with basic colors, don't you think this makes a great on the go look? To give my petite frame some height, I wore my suede chain pointed heels and teased my hair. Until next time!
Hi everyone! It's been a while but I wanted to shared a hidden gem that's been collecting a bit of dust in my closet - my Tory Burch polka dot coat! I wanted to create a sophisticated yet fun look so I paired this with a shirt dress I got from Nordstrom while I still in college. Pairing this coat with a white sheath looked too bland for me (possibly good for the office) so I chose a more adventurous route with bold colors. I have a couple of outfit posts that are still in my drafts so I will be posting them of the course of 2021 to the new year! Oh, for those who do not know, I am now on YouTube! You can check out my first video here. I show tips on how I transition my summer clothes to fit cooler temperatures!
One thing's for sure though... you'll be doing a lot of running. I had so many back-to-back interviews and it was a huge adrenaline rush! Besides running to interviews, I ran back to booths to drop off thank you cards into the mailbox/fishbowl as seen below in the picture below for Rutgers programs. I strongly suggest getting your interviewer's contact information/business card before leaving.
Hello all! I'm back with my pharmacy related posts. I decided to shift the focus of my blog to pharmacy/academia with the purpose of informing rather than sharing my weekly outfits. But do not fret, my style and fashion will continue to shine here and my instagram. Check out my personal @adriennenguyenn and pharmacy @rx_adriennenguyen accounts. Using this space to speak about my journey through pharmacy will have a greater impact in helping future PharmD students so without further ado, let's start!
The Fairmont San Francisco Part 2! I thought I took more pictures of my hotel room but these are the only ones I snapped. If I'm being honest, I spent more time enjoying the sights SF had to offer and living in the moment than documenting every single second. Distancing myself from social media and my phone really allows me to indulge in my surroundings and witness the beauty of the area. I hope you enjoyed my SF series. Next time I travel, I'll remember to bring my DSLR so I can snap some professional quality pictures when the moment is just too good.
The Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco is unlike any other. For those who have not seen or heard of the hotel, it's definitely one to visit. This hotel has been featured in multiple films and is a gem in the heart of San Francisco. The rooms and views are also exquisite though I must admit, my first room was absurd in the most ridiculous way. I requested a room with a view and I literally got a room with windows looking at walls. For anyone who has watched Casey Neistat's Vlogs, I was in the exact room where he climbed out of the window and onto the roof of the Fairmont. It was really disheartening so I went back down and switched rooms... for a pretty penny, of course. My room had a view and I could see the fog roll in and out each day. Saying it was magical is an understatement. More pictures of this hotel to come!
San Francisco Part 3! This is the relaxed and casual outfit I wore to explore The Golden Gate Bridge. Unfortunately, Karl decided to hang around. It took some sleuthing on my part to find out that the fog was named Karl. It started in 2010 and wasn't coined by a celebrity but rather by an anonymous Twitter account!
During my time in The City, I felt like a true San Franciscan. I walked up so many hills and what felt like 60 degree inclines, took so many Ubers around town, ate food from various cultures... It is such a lively city but there were still parts that were deserted. The isolated patches are mostly residential neighborhoods where I was able to walk in the middle of the road without worrying about traffic. What are your impressions of SF?
Were you a fan of Full House? I remember watching it as a kid and in all the times I've been in San Francisco, this was the first instance I've been in front of these Victorian and Edwardian homes! It was extremely crowded but everyone is very civilized and there's enough room to take pictures without anyone else photobombing your shot! I stopped by the Alamo Square Cafe right before coming here to grab a sandwich and it was delicious (you'll find it if you walk along the perimeter of the block with The Painted Ladies)! Whoever created Dutch Crunch Bread, I love you (see picture below)! You can find this landmark location between Steiner Street and Hayes Street in SF.
The other snaps below were taken near and at Japantown. My mom and I walked there by foot and it's fairly easy and flat... unlike the rest of SF! Have you been to these places? Would you want to visit?
For trips I take out of Southern California, I don't typically bring along my DSLR. It's a bit too chunky and I believe iPhone pictures are sufficient in capturing the moment. I took a mini vacation in San Francisco prior to the pandemic/rotations and have yet to share any of my pictures! My mom and I walked up and down Lombard Street... we managed to get up and down the steep, STEEP hill (#LegDay) to enjoy one of the most famous streets in the world. We got some really cool pictures too! The last time I was here was the day before interviews! Instead of preparing, I ran all over SF and took so many pictures of landmarks! Anyways, I have no idea how anyone could live in such a congested street. There's always people and cars around... day and night. The views are amazing (you can see all the way to Coit Tower) but the traffic and noise? Benefits and opportunity cost, right? More pictures to come!
This is Winter in Southern California! Yes, I know it's Spring but I have yet to share this outfit (way behind on posts 😐). What social media platform do you frequent daily? I'm a loyal Instagram user and longtime blogger but I think it's time to branch out and try new things... maybe even expand my reach. I've been hesitant about starting a Youtube channel because of all the work it entails. A single video may only take a few minutes to film but hours to edit... It already takes ages to put together an Instagram Reel with transitions! Maybe I'll film something just for fun and see where it goes!

A closet staple? Tweed. It pairs well with everything for practically any situation. Another reason why tweed is such a versatile and essential fabric you need? It adds a bit of sophistication and class. When I think of tweed, the first brand that comes to mind is Chanel. What about you? This tweed jacket could pair just as well with a dress or pencil skirt but to I decided to opt for a more casual ensemble here. Do you have any tweed in your closet?

The sweater vest blew up this year! Sure, it may be an oversized, roomy sister to the ones I own... but still! It finally has the opportunity to shine! I decided to channel my inner preppy persona for this look. I knew I wanted to work around this geometric blue and yellow sweater vest so I built my outfit with this as an anchor. I threw this on top of my Ralph Lauren sheer roses collar button down top and accessorized it with a DIY ribbon bow. It still felt a tad bit empty so I added my camel sleeveless duster coat to give it more layers. Paired with navy shorts, black suede OTK boots and my MCM tote, this is the perfect look for a chilly school day! Are you into the sweater vest trend?

One of my favorite outfit pairings are things that juxtapose each other. Take for instance, this motorcycle jacket. It is a utilitarian piece that was given a softer touch in a sky blue color yet it still possesses that strong, tough grit with silver hardware dispersed over the jacket. Now throw this firm jacket onto an asymmetrical cotton sweater dress that sways with just the slightest breeze. For some unexplainable reason, it creates harmony. Although I wanted to keep with the blue scheme, I decided to opt for some suede taupe colored peep-toe heels. What are your thoughts about mixing strong and softer pieces?

I still have yet to take graduation pics even though I officially finished being a student May 2020. I've been location scouting and Balboa Park is the perfect default. However, the amount of people there was just insane! I would have to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to avoid the massive crowds but that may be something I have to do! Anyways, here's what my COVID-19 uniform has looked like. Comfortable sneakers, a roomy dress, and of course, my mask!

I discovered the name of this aesthetic during pharmacy school as I was scrolling through Tumblr. There are still so many I want to try out and so many to discover but here's my take Dark Academia. Not familiar with the aesthetic? Dark academia features articles of clothing you would typically see in Ivy League or prep schools. Imagine Gossip Girl in the UK circa 1930/40s with a dark overcast. Cue houndstooth and tweed clothing, especially in cardigans, blazers and skirts. The overall color scheme is very muted: black, beige, brown, bone white, dark green. What are you thoughts about this style?

I withdrew from my fellowship in San Francisco so I'm in no place to say this however, I do miss and crave The City life. SF exudes a completely different vibe compared to San Diego and it's not as fast-paced as NYC but there's just something about it that draws you in. I spent my summer in SF right before APPE rotations and it was COLD AND WINDY. I'm all for gloomy weather but the wind whipping my hair all over my face was a bit much. Who knows... maybe I'll end up in the Bay Area sometime in the future. Anyways, on one of the days when I ventured onto Pier 39, I wanted to grab some souvenirs - as any tacky tourist would. I came across a clothing store and found this varsity jacket/bomber. I've worn this so many times throughout the pandemic and I would love to buy more in various color combinations! I still have yet to share my SF pictures... I'll post that soon! Until next time!

The fact that so many Americans are getting the COVID-19 vaccine means that we may be able to establish herd immunity and travel "safely" before 2021 is out! I have so many places on my bucket list but the first vacation I'm taking post-pandemic MUST BE EPIC. Have you booked your next trip yet? Anyways, we've been experiencing some odd weather changes since Daylight Savings occurred... it was gloomy most days of the previous week but it was scorching hot yesterday. I've been meaning to give this motorcycle ruffle sleeve vest more wear so I paired it on top of my cable knit turtleneck sweater. To complete this casual look, I wore nude pumps to make me appear taller. Those extra inches make do make a difference! Until next time!

Gossip Girl was a worldwide phenomenon when I was in high school and college. Everyone was trying to imitate the breathtaking outfits from the show. Blair Waldorf's impeccable and classic style was envied. Serena van der Woodsen's effortless casual cool outfits were replicated by many. Jenny Humphrey's post-Blair reign at Constance was a go-to for college girls. I rewatched GG not too long ago and the fashion on that show is still relevant today. Since we're still living in a pandemic world, I was thinking of creating some "Inspired By..." looks and even some "Runway, my way outfits! Time to get those creative juices running again!
You know you love me. XOXO.

My version of uptown grunge featuring one of my favorite prints - camouflage. I have such a high affinity for this shades of green and brown color combination! Whenever I want to play up a plain old black outfit, I try to either pop in a bold color for a strike contrast or add a print. I wore this to do some shopping earlier this week and I'm trying to get back into wearing "actual outfits" when I go out. This WFH lifestyle is really impacting my style game! I find myself navigating towards oversized hoodies and sweats but I really have to break the habit or I'll be in bad shape when I actually have to go back into the office!
With everything that transpired this year, I'll be ending my posts with positive affirmations. It may take form in quotes, passages from my favorite novels or simply a lame joke to make you smile. Besides, don't we all need a little more optimism in life? My hope is that we can take everything we have learned during our quarantine to do better once we are able to return back to "normalcy."

Cue the moody music... we finally got a day of rain in SoCal and there may be some more coming our way this week! I may have been a bit indifferent to rainy days in the past but that has all changed since I'm working from home. Hearing the rain crash into my window, the occasional spark of light, the thunder pounding in the distance, the overcast creating an even more somber ambiance... I could go on but I think you have a sense of just how much I enjoy dark days. I equally enjoy the sunshine and long Summer days but it's on an entirely different wavelength. Hope you're all staying safe and doing well!
My typical college uniform. Any time it was chilly, I opted for a sweater, shorts, and boots combination. I still find myself wearing a variation of this ensemble post-graduation and I do not see myself changing styles in the near future! The sweater keeps me warm while the shorts add an edgier touch to my look. Maybe it's just me but I often find that my legs are fine in shorts year round... Rain or shine. Hot or Cold. Is anyone else like that?
For those of you following me on IG @adriennenguyenn, you'll know that I finally found the opportunity to read The Art of War. Some of the teachings by Sun Tzu rely on common sense while others have deeper implications. This quick read isn't just for military officials, it's great for leaders in all fields from science to politics. There are many online communities devoted towards deciphering each line but I will end with this: By altering his arrangements and changing his plans, he keeps the enemy without definite knowledge. By shifting his camp and taking circuitous routes, he prevents the enemy from anticipating his purpose.
My go to look when I have to go outside (for anything now 😬#COVIDStyle) is something casual with a hint of street to produce that urban vibe. I love how roomy this dress is and it honestly works well alone but since it was a tad bit chilly, I decided to spice it up with layers and depth. These Leather Michael Kors Combat Boots were the first thing I added and they're one of the most versatile shoes I own. Played up or down, you cannot go wrong with with lace up boots! Next up was my long grey cardigan and then my grey UCSD beanie! I kept with the grunge vibe by pairing this outfit with my black 3.1 Phillip Lim Medium Pashli! Is this something you'd wear?
I bought this blue turtleneck with the intention of layering it under jackets for Winter however, since it's still pretty warm, I decided to spin this another way. I popped this on top of my sheer button down collar shirt and added a statement belt to give this look some more personality. This sweater vest is asymmetrical with the back being longer than the front so instead of wearing pants and cutting my figure into weird proportions, I opted for shorts and block boots! Are you into belting sweaters?
It was a pretty cold morning and I caught a case of the sniffles right as these pictures were being taken... Between my sneezing fits, I managed to be still for a few seconds to capture some shots of my outfit! Featured here is my brown boxy jacket that I pulled out from the bottom of my armoire! I keep finding lost clothing and I am not complaining! It's like pulling out new treasure without spending a pretty penny! To give this a more wintery feel, I combined this look with knee high shearling, suede and leather Ugg boots! Are you into boxy jackets?
Do you ever find yourself pondering about what life would be like if you lived in a parallel universe or could travel back in time? Maybe it's because I've watched The Sound of Music way too many times but I would love to run through an open field of grass, feel the wind through my hair and just be with myself and my thoughts. This outfit conjures up those feelings and I'm hoping I have the opportunity to venture out to parks this Spring for some much needed TLC with Mother Nature! However, with the pandemic raging on and the temperatures taking a dip, I'll be spending much more time indoors for now. I am thinking about setting up my tripod and taking pictures around the house... new moody concepts? Self-portraits? Possibly!
A complete 180 with the weather this week! I believe it's time to bid farewell to warm temperatures in SoCal. Hello, rain and gloom ☔Since I'm still working from home, I am pretty excited for the rain! * Cue moody music and endless gazes out my window * I will now transition to posting more Winter appropriate attire starting with this look featuring my faux fur turtleneck sheer top and floral leather mini skirt. To keep with the color scheme, I paired this look with my faux fur handle bag and maroon deep v ankle boots.
I must admit that I own a tremendous amount of clothes however, the one type of outerwear I do not have a lot of are long cardigans. These pictures don't do this cardigan justice since there's a shimmer to it in real-life. I created a casual look similar to outfits I wore any time I went out in 2020. I can definitely see myself switching out these heels for boots or flats so it could work for school! On another note, I plan on updating my Poshmark account with more things. It's a process though so it may take some time before new clothes pop up. Check it out here - Adrienne Nguyenn.
With everything that has happened in 2020 and the chaos that has already occurred in 2021, maybe it's time for more thought provoking posts. I used to journal every day up until high school but my blog could potentially serve as my virtual journal. Until next time!
I didn't think I would end up back at UCSD after graduation but here I am. Since in-person learning is on hold indefinitely, I decided to take advantage of a rarely empty space. I used to venture into this area on my way to campus to snap some pictures or to avoid everyone getting on/off buses. It's rarely crowded here though I did stumble upon two people in the midst of fencing practice for these pictures! This marks the second time I've worn this asymmetrical ruffle sleeve dress and I wanted to give it more of a bohemian vibe so I paired it with my suede booties and faux fur travel wallet! Anyways, I hope you're all staying safe!
