I had the privilege of attending the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Symposium at, none other than the "happiest" place on earth - Disneyland. Although some of the terminology used during the talks were foreign to me, it reassured my decision to pursue a career in healthcare. I know it may sound a bit cliché however, the endless possibilities in science and medicine never ceases to amaze me. The research that goes into discovering relationships between potential drug alternatives and the prevention of diseases is amazing... actually, amazing is an understatement. This isn't the outfit I wore to such a formal event, obviously. I decided to mix a bit of rebellion into my bohemian-esque attire. My mom bought me this enchanting long cardigan sweater from Anthropologie for Christmas. Do you guys ever buy things, shove it in the back of your closet and rediscover it a few months later? If so, high five! We're on the same boat! Well, to juxtapose the long cardigan, I chose to pair this with a simple black mini dress. To complete my look, I chose black and gold accessories. Hope you like this outfit!
When I laid this outfit out, I wanted to add a pop of hot pink but things always look radically different when I put it on. Does that ever happen to you guys? You think it looks good on the hanger and then you put it on, look at the mirror and your immediate reaction is WHAT THE ****!? Haha. Following that reaction, I decided to pair this outfit with some pale pinks. Of course, I could not resist adding some bold color into my outfit thus why I have carrot sunnies on!
When I have a "nothing to wear for a casual day and I'm in a rush," I opt for a basic black outfit. I actually wore this under my coat in the previous post but I decided to break it into two blog posts! These black suede over the knee boots have been on repeat all season long; they go perfectly with everything (skirts, shorts and dresses)! I added my favorite brown faux fur stole on top of my outfit to keep my neck warm. I think it works well here, don't you? When I wear all black, I like adding a hint of color - silver, gold or a dash of grey. All of these items were featured on my blog before but now it's compiled into a single monochrome outfit. I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day and long weekend to my American readers! Until next time!

I know the beginning of the year yet but I found myself doing a lot of self-reflection these past few weeks. I was able to think back to my past accomplishments and to the many things I achieved in 2015. So why the sudden myriad of thoughts? Graduate school interviews! I only applied to a few schools in California and I received acceptance letters in less than a week from my interviews! I will definitely make a post on my entire experience in the future... if not so I can spill my heart into another outlet, then just so I can help future applicants. You can follow my experience on instagram @adriennenguyenn.
Onward to this outfit! I recently got this Aubergine V-Neck Dress from Forever 21! It's such a great piece since it's loose enough to hide that belly fat after a meal and it flows with the wind! Besides, who doesn't love this aubergine color? The dress looked a bit plain so I added my fedora and finished it off with my favorite leather pieces! My mom and I were on our way to the fabric store when we saw an abandoned restaurant so I hopped on in for a few shots... it smelled a bit funky though...
Only those who truly know me understand my tenacity. Thank you to all the fans who stuck with me while I was absent from the blogosphere. Until next time!
Hello everyone! Sorry for the blog hiatus - I experienced some technical issues (i.e., my laptop died). Nevertheless, the boyfriend recovered all my files - it just took me a while to filter through the pictures! I know I'm always talking about the weather in my blog posts but it's just peculiar. Even though it's still Winter, we're experiencing scorching temperatures (90 degrees) and mucky winds; I do love how I can put my newly acquired Spring pieces to use!
Anyways, these pictures were obviously taken some time ago. I found this belted flare double breasted coat hiding away on the side of my closet. It's chunky enough to keep me warm and toasty but better yet, it's from Forever 21. Now unless the coat I'm wearing has some sort of fabulous design on it, I love layering things on top. Whether it's a faux fur stole like the one here or piles of necklaces, I make an effort to keep my outfit interesting. If you're one of my followers/readers, then you've seen this stole before: HERE - I'm also belting it in my previous post to add more definition to my waist. I would say this is a preppy look that works for school or a casual day out. I left what I wore underneath this coat for another post in the future. Until next time!

Here's a look at one of my casual work outfits. Whenever I'm shopping for pencil skirts, there are two things I look for: style and print. A classic pencil skirt is good but it's even better when there are ruffles, 3D appliqués, or in this case, an asymmetrical hem with faux-leather lining. It's appropriate for any work situation yet it has an interesting and unique appeal to it. I usually don't worry about the fit since numerous garments can be altered to perfectly fit your body... which was the situation for this skirt. To keep my ensemble professional, I paired this skirt with a silver boat neck sweater. After analyzing my outfit, I thought it looked plain so I added an orange leaf necklace - everything is better with a bit of color and personality! Until next time!
SHEL SILVERSTEIN'S The Giving Tree was one of my favorite children's book. Thought I would mention that since I am wearing brown and green together in this post! So the weather in Southern California could not be any more awkward than it has been this past month. Last week, I had to wear lots of layers and coats to keep warm however today was completely different - I think I would have been okay with a light cardigan, tank top, and shorts.
