Vivaldi's Four Seasons

This post was a long time coming. A few years back, I had the honor of watching Itzhak Perlman conduct AND perform with the LA Philharmonic at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. I typically prefer watching concerts at night however, this daytime performance was still magical. For those who do not know, I am a violinist! I was concert master of my high school orchestra and played in a philharmonic. Due to time constraints, I unfortunately had to withdraw from the philharmonic during undergrad. I do miss being part of a group and creating beautiful music. Maybe I'll join an amateur group in the future... who knows! Anyways, I am parting ways with this dress and you can purchase it here. I have only worn it once and it was for this particular occasion.
I took a bit of a hiatus from my blog however, I will start posting things here again. I miss writing!

ReplyDeleteA long time ago I used to played violin - a very old rare one - and there are stories to be told about it (and my bow) and how they came into disrepair+mis-repair, etc.. Now I haven't played violin in a very long time.
That lace long-sleeved dress with faux leather skirt looks very pretty.
You appear very young and look absolutely gorgeous wearing it!

I apologise for taking so long to answer. I wrote an extremely long answer that shared way too much including identifying (and other) information, but have held off, thought about redacting+re-writing the draft / leaving things out while still doing more re-researching?
DeleteTHE VIOLIN IS NOT A STRADIVARIUS, but it may have belonged to concert violinist named Belle Sigourney of New Haven, who had studied under Eugène Ysaÿe in Belgium. Belle Sigourney was married to my adoptive great great uncle.
The violin I have is very very very old. I believe it was made in Germany. Belle Sigourney's violin MIGHT the violin which was subsequently played in an orchestra by my great uncle (Belle Sigourney's husbands nephew and my adoptive great uncle. After repairs in 1958 the violin my great uncle had played was given to (played by) me.
YES, I do still have the violin. It is not playable in its current state. The violin's fingerboard+nut, bow and frog need work done on them. I also have more family documents to dig out and re-read in order to confirm whether it's the same violin Belle Sigourney played.
