Can you believe it actually rained in California this weekend? I'm what you would call a pluviophile. I actually just learned that word through a tumblr post which means a lover of rain - someone who finds joy and peace of mind during rainy days. Even though we experienced some summer rain, it was still incredibly humid. Now onwards to my outfit. I received these floral shorts a few weeks ago. I tried numerous tops but none seemed aesthetically pleasing. White seemed to offset the shorts in an odd way, red seemed boring, green made me look like I walked right out of Christmas, and my striped shirts, juxtaposed to the floral shorts, made me dizzy. So I pulled out this Anne Klein halter top from my "to-donate" pile and cropped it to give it some edge. With the whole crop trend this season, why not take advantage of it? I received the floral pants pictured here courtesy of Chictopia and LuLu's. Although spring is reaching an end, I can't get enough of floral prints! As you all may be aware, coral is "in" this season and it matched perfectly with these pants. When I first received these pants, I did not have anything to pair it with so my mom decided to take apart an old top and use it as a pattern to make a new one! Yes, the top I am wearing is another one of my mom's designs!
SUBMERGED IN GOLD. The rain has finally departed Southern California! Though I love listening to rain droplets hit my window pane, it is quite a pain to drive when visibility is low. I can recall a moment when I was driving home from school and nearly died, seriously. I was turning right for the ramp which was situated above the freeway without any metal or wood railing on the sides to prevent cars from literally flying off when I began to hydroplane (whew.. so much for a run-on sentence!). Of course we all assume that we can remain calm in a situation as such however I totally freaked! My instantaneous reaction was to grab the steering wheel and violently rotate it toward the opposite side (HORRIBLE IDEA!). So I started veering toward concrete panels... I am pretty sure my pupils were dilated and my blood pressure spiked... Moral of the story: Drive with caution - especially in the rain.
On a happier note, I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather by what else than outfit shots! I received this alluring necklace from iristy and I was astounded by its quality. The packaging that it came in was adorable - if you guys are following me on twitter then you saw the preview of it! The delicate details on this necklace are incredible and it is very durable. This necklace includes earrings however I have virgin ears! I have debated on whether or not to get earrings many times however it just does not suit me. No, I am not afraid of needles (trust me I am not and no, I am not a druggie). Even though I do not accessorize my ears, I do incorporate jewelry into practically all of my outfits. 2012, A YEAR TO REMEMBER. I mean we all survived the over-hyped "end of the world," we watched the Hostess Bankruptcy play out, we saw President Obama win re-election, the New York Giants won their 4th superbowl, we all watched a snippet here and there of the London Olympics, the iPhone 5 came out, Space Shuttle Endeavour made its way to California (I have pictures on my Twitter!) and how can anyone forget Gangnam Style? However, America was hit by tragic, violent acts that resulted in the lost of precious lives and Mother Nature's wrath. With that said, 2012 is coming to an end and it's time to look 2013 with our heads held high and see what it has to offer.
