I know it's the end of October but it's still quite warm in Southern California! I had a big trip planned for August - September where I would venture off to the Greek Islands as a gift to myself for obtaining my Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UCSD - Class of 2020, represent! However, with the pandemic roaring on and a travel ban for U.S. citizens in most countries, I was stuck at home. Sure, I could have travelled domestically but a major component, I'd say the driving, or rather, braking force, that prevented me from traveling during these past few months was the lack of safety I felt as COVID-19 cases continue to increase around the world. Since I do not think I'll be able to travel with peace of mind for quite some time, I will live vicariously through images of those iconic blue domes and white buildings on Instagram. Until next time!
Spooky season is here as well as my favorite time of year - the HOLIDAYS! Whenever temperatures start taking a dip, I know that it is finally time to pile on the clothes, stuff my face with food and start decorating the house. Even with all these impending celebrations, 2020 has been a real testament to my perception on life.
I started the year on my ambulatory care rotation when COVID was still a foreign entity that, quite frankly, no one seemed to care about. Flash forward to March when I was on my hospital rotation and the sheer number of patients being admitted to the emergency department with a chief complain of "shortness of breath" shot up 100%. Masks became scarce. Gloves ran out faster than ever before. Hand sanitizer became a hot commodity... it's a surreal thing to live through in my 20's. Despite the tragedy we all came to witness from the pandemic to wildfires to injustice, I'm trying to stay optimistic in this dystopian world. I am grateful for so many things in my life and I'm going to enjoy the last leg of 2020 as much as I can. Hoping you and all your loved ones are safe, healthy, and well!
Anyways, even though change is good, I hope to embody the old me in future looks as the one featured here. Remember Gossip Girl? Everyone I knew was mesmerized by Serena van der Woodsen's attire. I was attracted to some of her outfits but Blair Waldorfs' outfits were a hit in practically every show. Each outfit was like a piece of art that exuded a sense of ladylike sophistication and power. I know this particular outfit isn't what she would wear but I am drawing inspiration from her and giving it my own modern flare. Maybe I'll do some "Inspired by ___" posts! But remember, always add personality to your outfit and own it! Until next time!
