EVER DREAMED ABOUT GOING TO NYFW? I was ecstatic when I received an email from Fashiolista stating I was chosen as one of the 30 up and coming bloggers in the running for a chance to attend NYFW! I could not believe that I was chosen as a contestant! I am running against some of my favorite bloggers with enormous followings so it is such an honor to be included!

Here's a once in a lifetime opportunity to join yours truly at NYFW this February! The prize includes 1 return ticket from NYFW, 3 nights stay at a hotel, 2 fashion shows, and an outfit styled by Miss KL. The Spark of Light

2012, A YEAR TO REMEMBER. I mean we all survived the over-hyped "end of the world," we watched the Hostess Bankruptcy play out, we saw President Obama win re-election, the New York Giants won their 4th superbowl, we all watched a snippet here and there of the London Olympics, the iPhone 5 came out, Space Shuttle Endeavour made its way to California (I have pictures on my Twitter!) and how can anyone forget Gangnam Style? However, America was hit by tragic, violent acts that resulted in the lost of precious lives and Mother Nature's wrath. With that said, 2012 is coming to an end and it's time to look 2013 with our heads held high and see what it has to offer. I know applications and personal statements are definitely going to consume me. 2013 will also mark a pivotal moment in my life since I will be graduating with a Bachelor's of Science in Biological Sciences. Do you guys have anything planned for 2013?

The Quintessential Cape

EVERY GIRL needs a cape - at least that's what I believe! I bought this cape about a year ago however it never felt right to wear since it was never "cold enough" in Southern California. It's my favorite cape and it's very versatile since it can be paired with anything and everything! I went out to Fashion Island a few days ago then I left for Sprinkle's Cupcakes and finished the night with revolving table Sushi! As I started eating, the owner of the sushi shop came out and said there was a shooting at Fashion Island! Shocked and curious, I googled it and it happened about an hour after I left! The entire mall was evacuated, according to Google! Fortunately, no one was injured. With the recent shootings in China and Newtown, Connecticut, I bet everyone is a bit anxious about  leaving the house. It's tragic how the lives of so many people were taken especially during the holiday season. I cannot imagine the kind of pain and grief the entire town of Newtown is facing. My heart and prayers go out to all of those who were affected by this random act of evil and violence.

Dark Knight

WINTER BREAK is finally in full swing! I suffered from an intolerable cold yesterday since I was out in the rain all day in shorts, a thin cape, and a tank top - I figured that it wouldn't rain but Mother Nature decided to put her wrath against me. However, after being under covers and being forced to take medicine, (I usually let things take their own natural course but my mom made me take medication since I sneezed over 20 times consecutively!) I am 100% better! Anyways, I received this dress courtesy of Sugarlips about two weeks ago and I finally had the opportunity to go out and take pictures! I was definitely surprised at the quality of the fabric and design. I thought it would be a typical dress you see at Forever 21 but I underestimated it. You can purchase it HERE.

Miss Violeta

THE SUN ALSO RISES even though it's been raining in Orange County. Oh, as a side note, that novel was one of my favorites in high school by Ernest Hemingway. Finals are in less than two weeks and the end of my undergraduate years are starting to hit me. It's time to devote more time to school and get rock solid grades. I am planning on staying at research longer so I can update my database to have enough information to present at the symposium May 2013, doing more clinical work, and becoming more active in community service (I haven't been able to do a lot this quarter since I'm taking pretty dense courses...which is pretty unsettling since I love volunteering). I will update my blog to the best of my ability but I must say that school is more important to me. However, I can promise that I will have a new post up by December 14th at the latest. Hope you guys understand!

As for my outfit, I received this dress from Sugarlips which you guys can purchase HERE. When I received this dress, I have to admit that I did not like it. It is not something I would even try on at the mall if I saw it on the racks but I wanted to make it work. I went through my accessories and tried to mix and match things to see if I could make it "mine" and put my own personality into it. After scouring through jewelry, belts, and shoes, I finally found the perfect combination and this is the result.

BLACK FRIDAY MADNESS. Happy belated Thanksgiving guys! The herd of people waiting to go into Best Buy/Fry's, the plethora of women in the shoe department... INSANITY. I hope everyone is enjoying their week thus far! Even though I'm on break, there is so much work I have to complete. Anyways, I don't know how many of you watch Hart of Dixie on the CW but I have fallen in love with Lemon Breeland's outfits! She was an enormous inspiration for the outfit featured in this post!

Cat's Meow

Thanksgiving is just around the corner! I have a Physiology quiz, Physiology lab report, and Language and Brain midterm to get out of the way by the end of Tuesday but after that, I'm free - I'm in dire need of a break! Black Friday shopping last year was insane and I came home empty handed however, I plan on going again this year! The atmosphere creates an adrenaline rush as everyone is frantically trying to get their hands on some of the best deals of the season. I believe my family is planning on going to South Coast Plaza but our plans may change.

Anyways, my mom and I went out for lunch yesterday and this is the outfit I wore! My mom made the dress featured in this post and I received so many compliments! As for my necklace and sunnies: you can purchase them from my sponsor, OASAP (necklace: purchase HERE  // Sunnies: purchase HERE).

On another note, the winner of my giveaway has been notified by the host, Modmint!

Grey Matter

European Aesthetic. The temperature is continuously decreasing and I am definitely prepared for the harsh cold, winds that come along with Autumn/Winter! Anyways, I used to be an active photographer and I even had a deviantart account. However, the time I devoted to photography ceased when I stepped foot into college. I was debating on whether or not to take a photography class next quarter just so I can take pictures again....

As for this outfit, I ordered this dress from OASAP.com a few weeks ago and it just came in! I ripped opened the package and I put it on right away. I was a bit skeptical about getting this item since it is only available in one size and it was displayed on a mannequin however, it looks amazing in real life. You can purchase this same dress HERE. It's fully lined, the arm length fits just right, and so does the length of the dress. (I'm 5'2).

You guys can also read an interview I did HERE for "8 questions blog."

SKYFALL. The new Bond movie is coming out this Friday - I'm in love with the piano version of Adele's Skyfall! Just when I thought the weather in California was beginning to cool down, it becomes toasty, AGAIN! It's predicted that it will be 90 degrees Fahrenheit tomorrow but at least I can find refuge in the basement of the library... practically no one is down there before noon! Anyways, for those of you who are following me on twitter and instagram, you already know that I was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars on Saturday! I started reminiscing about National Junior Honor Society in junior high... oh I miss the good ole days where I didn't have to worry about anything. At the event, all of the new members were asked to come up onto the stage and take a pledge. As we came up single file, our names were read off respectively from name cards. I stood there, hands in my dress pockets and it was my turn. I looked up at the girl who was announcing the names, smiled, and she said "Andrea Ly Nguyen." Then my grin turned into a (-_-) Seriously? How does Adrienne Nguyen turn into that? I understand that people have a hard time spelling my name since there are so many variations but hard time pronouncing it? That's a first.

Pumpkin Harvest

JACK O' LANTERN. Oh, how I miss carving pumpkins in Elementary school as class projects! I'm glad kids still get to enjoy the "art" of carving today! Although the place I went to did not have a large selection of pumpkins, it was extremely kid friendly! Kids were running all over the place however, the adults were gravitating toward the shady areas to avoid the unusual Autumn heat wave. I must say, the weather in California is a bit strange. It was getting chilly then suddenly Mother Nature decided to raise the temperature on Californians yet again! Nevertheless, it felt good to be outdoors - the perk my mom received from going to this pumpkin patch was the funnel cake! Afterwards, my mom and I went to the market to buy Halloween candy. I miss wearing my costume to school and trick-o-treating with friends. The good ole days!

Walk On

NIGHT PROWLER. Mes amis! I just finished my first round of midterms for Immunology with Hematology and Language & Brain! My brain is fried and I went on overdrive earlier this week. I still have papers and quizzes but at least it's not a full on midterm! However, I must say that this is, by far, is the hardest quarter ever within the duration of my undergraduate years. I know my blog has been empty but I would like to thank my loyal readers for keeping me motivated to continue blogging! Anyways, October is coming to an end and the season of festivities is here! Are you guys ready for Halloween, what identity will you confer on this mystical night?!

As a side note, this is the first time I have ever taken evening outfit shots! I tried my best to fix the resolution and brightness within an hour! I am ecstatic that Autumn has finally arrived! I cannot wait to pile on layers upon layers of clothing! I still love floppy over-sized hats and fur vests so I decided to incorporate them with my outfit! Oh, by the way, did you notice that I do not have any sunglasses on?! For those who are just tuning in, I usually have have sunglasses on since my eyes get really chinky when the sun is out!

Midnight Blue Roses Swaying In the Wind

EUROPEAN AESTHETIC. School is taking up the majority of my time yet I'm already behind on studying. I finished up my first week of school and midterms are already around the corner come October 23rd/24th. I still haven't determined my schedule since I need to add time for research, volunteer, and office hours! My classes are quite intriguing and a great review. As of now, I am taking Immunology with Hematology, Language & Brain, Physiology Lab, and Research under the Department of Surgery! I have been a student at UCI for 3 years and I still go to the wrong buildings and rooms! I went into the wrong building for lab on Friday but at least I still made it on time! My group works efficiently together - thank gosh! I hate being groups in which the people cannot/refuse to communicate with each other and simply rely on others to do their work.

If you guys are following me on Twitter @AdrienneNguyenn, then you found out that I got an iPhone 5 as an early birthday present! Thanks to this niffy handheld device, I am now abusing Instagram!

I received these amazing sunglasses c/o Oasap. You can purchase a pair Here! They resemble the Prada "Baroque" Sunglasses and look amazing with pretty much everything I wear! I always have a hard time trying to find sunglasses that fit my face shape but these fit just right!

Cayenne In the Mix

WARRIOR PRINCESS. How is everyone? Please excuse my absence from the blogosphere! Do you guys ever catch yourself in the midst of an exquisite day dream? Well, I took a Native American class during my second year in college and this dress reminded me of a Pow Wow I attended at UCI! The people I became acquainted with at the event were incredibly nice and VERY generous. Anyways, this led me to imagine myself as a Native American girl running fields of grass, picking food, and prancing around a man built fire! On another note, I received this amazing shift dress complete with leather belt courtesy of Sugarlips! I love how the colors complement each other and the feather leaf leather belt adds a nice touch- it cinches the waist to add more definition to my figure! You can purchase this dress HERE!

I STARTED SCHOOL ON YESTERDAY! Time flies by so rapidly-this is my last year as an undergraduate! I was a bit disheartened to roll out of bed at 6AM for my 8AM class but it felt great to be back in school. Although I miss my lazy summer days, it was a bit tedious. My first class was Plant Cell Biology: I cannot believe how much information I learned on my first days- good thing! My professor transformed plants into a wonderful entity! As for my second class, Language & Brain, the professor was hilarious! Today,I had Virology at 10AM and Immunology at 12PM.  It sucks that I have class every day but it's my last year - at least this means I will have a less intense schedule come Winter and Spring quarter!

Hippie Love

MODERN HIPPIE. What Southern Californian girl would I be if I didn't include a picture of the beach on my blog?! It would be nice to take pictures on the beach during the peak of summer but the it was just too sunny and there were just too many people. Of course, I chose to go to the beach when it was sprinkling! I love the scenic, serene atmosphere the beach exudes however, my skin cannot stand being in the sun for long periods of time. Anyways, I was driving along Pacific Coast Highway and decided to pull over to walk on the beach; sand is a natural exfoliant so all is well! I should have dropped my bag for the pictures... no idea why I held onto it! Well, Summer is coming to an end and hopefully I can squeeze in another beach post before Autumn arrives!

Pocket Full of Daisies

BOHEMIAN. I have grown quite lazy ever since I finished Summer Session so my attire is mostly comprised of random tops, flare jeans, and shift dresses. I went out to the market to get some groceries and I decided to snap some pictures since my blog has been lacking real outfit posts! Though I do not "dress-up" as often during summer, I am getting a lot studying done!

Chloe Fashion Show: FNO

Fashion's Night Out. I attended FNO at South Coast Plaza with my mom and Jonathan! I must say that the Chloe Fashion Show was impressive however, it was way too short! I loved all of the lightweight dresses & blouses and how pastels were incorporated into their Fall-Winter 2012/2013 Collection. No more boring shades this Autumn! I cannot wait until this treacherous Southern California weather is gone so I can start piling on layers. As for my outfit, I decided to wear a simple dress with a bold design; looks like a very creative (or bored) person picked up a pen and decided to doodle all over the place! Of course, I couldn't resist accessorizing... so I added a hot pink belt and kept the rest of the outfit in neutral tones.
